Mount Auburn Hospital is a 183-bed community hospital located a few minutes west of Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. You can find out more about Mt. Auburn by visiting www.mtauburn.caregroup.org. The Birthplace offers 6 private labor-delivery-recovery (LDR) rooms each with a private bathroom, CD stereo and a view. Two rooms have Jacuzzi tubs, three have standard tub/showers, and one has a large handicapped-accessible shower. A refrigerator and microwave are available to patients and families. Our postpartum unit consists of 16 private rooms, a normal newborn nursery, a level II nursery for babies who need extra care and attention, a solarium with a beautiful river view, and a kitchen facility with refrigerator and microwave. Each patient room has its own bathroom, TV, VCR and pull-out chair so that one person of the mother’s choosing can stay overnight. Lactation consultants and staff nurses assist you in getting breastfeeding off to a good start.
