News from MAMA, Spring 2011

We are excited to announce the birth of our new Antenal Testing Unit, scheduled to open in early April. This will be run by Sharon Mullen, CNM and Leslie Mosley, CNM. They will be doing ultrasounds, no-stress tests, and triages for many of our patients!

We are pleased to welcome two new midwives to our practice!!
-Clare Storck, CNM joins us from Nashville, TN and is originally from California. She is also trained as a pregnancy and postpartum massage therapist and birth and postpartum doula. She is excited to joining our practice so she can continue her work with women during their pregnancies and after.

-Leslie Mosley, CNM graduated from Yale University School of Nursing and has been a midwife for nine years. Her latest job was with Brigham and Women's Midwifery Group. She left that position after having her third child. Now she is excited to join up with MAMA and focus on helping start the Antenatal Testing Unit.

Birth Announcement!!
Janna Moreau, CNM gave birth to her handsome baby boy Felix Sephan Moreau on Saturday, February 19th at 1:23pm. He weighed 9 pounds 4 ounces, measured 22 inches long, and continues to grow quickly! Janna, Jay, and Felix are all happy and healthy.

In other news:
Phyllis Gorman, CNM is thoroughly enjoying her new responsibilites as our Clinical Specialist in Education and Continuous Quality Improvement. She loves teaching and especially enjoys helping medical students develop an appreciation of normal, healthy pregnancy and childbirth. On the home front, Phyllis and her husband Tom, are delighted to announce the engagement of their older son, Dan. They are all busy working on wedding plans for the fall.

Deb Fiedler, CNM has taken a step back from her busy schedule and moved to a per diem position. This way she will get to spend more time with her son who is growing up so quickly! You will still see her on labor and delivery regularly, and she continues to teach childbirth education classes on the weekends.

Jill Fieleke, CNM continues her involvement in volunteer work abroad: she went to Haiti in February for her second volunteer stint with the Midwives for Haiti. She continues to work on curriculum development for them from afar.

Deb Gowen, CNM is stepping back from her throne at the post partum support group and is passing the baton to Jill Fieleke, CNM. Deb started this group in September of 2005; since then the group has served over 500 families, and has a listserve of 250 members who join and leave as their children grow. Jill will carry this tradition on with the continued help and support of Deb Fiedler, CNM; Pam Higgins, RN, LC will also continue to attend and provide breastfeeding support for women. Deb would like to thank the Vineyard Church for their support and generosity with their space over the years, and welcome Jill into her new role.

Mary Baker, CNM became a Reiki Master in January. Congratulations!
