News from MaMA, Summer 2007

Practice News

We’re happy to report that Mary Culliton has returned from her maternity leave to her part-time position.  She’ll be back at the Hope Ave. Waltham office on Mondays beginning in August.  This month, she’s been doing colposcopies at the Center for Women under the supervision of Arlene Pressman, RNC, WHNP, in order to complete the requirements for certification as a colposcopist.

One returns, another one leaves…Julie Mann will be going out on maternity leave as of August 5, to relax for a few days as she awaits the birth of her 2nd baby due August 13.

Johanna Swift Hart, our newest addition, who has been covering many Joseph Smith Health Center sessions as a per diem midwife, will be expanding her scope to include births and postpartum as soon as her application for practice privileges is approved.  She’s very excited about once again caring for women during labor and getting her hands on some babies!

The Center for Women will soon be offering 5-days-a-week maternal-fetal medicine and ultrasound services, an upgrade from the current twice-a-week schedule.  To accommodate the additional sessions, the Center has been undergoing renovations for the past several weeks.  The waiting room has grown, there are 2 new exam rooms, and the formerly ‘cozy’ reception area is much more spacious now.

Personal News

It’s a quiet summer for MaMA, with one stunning exception!

Wedding bells will soon be ringing for Kathryn Kravetz and her honey, Chris Carr.  They will be married in Seattle on August 18.  And since Chris’s mom is a midwife too, he already knows what life with a midwife is like.  They have some photos up at carrkravetz.com.
