Tamara graduated in 1999 from Boston University School of Public Health with an MPH in Maternal/Child Health and certificate in Nurse Midwifery.

"Even as a child, I was always fascinated by pregnancy and the miracle of
an egg and sperm transforming into a human being. Becoming a nurse-midwife, therefore, seemed like a very natural choice for me. In 1995 when I began exploring midwifery, I spent some time observing and talking with the midwives of Mount Auburn. I went on to finish my nursing and graduate training, then worked briefly as a per diem at Cambridge Hospital before taking a position in Hartford, CT and later Lowell, MA. In December of 2006, when I joined the MAMA midwives, it felt like I had come home.

"I'm still fascinated by pregnancy, childbirth and how incredible our bodies are. I've seen hundreds of births, and yet each is very unique and special to me still. To be able to help a woman transition from "I can't!" to "I'm doing this!" to "I did it!" is so amazingly gratifying that I can't imagine ever doing anything else.

"When not working, I keep busy with my children Isabel and Henry (born in 2000 and 2004 with the help of nurse-midwives!), and with any time left over, enjoy quilting and cooking."
