News from MAMA, Winter 2009/2010
Phyllis is co-author of a paper published in Patient Education and Counseling, titled "Women's and residents’ experiences of communication in the diagnostic mammography suite." It was published online in October and available in print in December 2009.
Congratulations to Jen, who was married in September. She and her husband spent their honeymoon traveling through Italy by bike and drinking great wine.
Julia has now officially caught over 100 babies and counting! Moreover, she was the lucky midwife to catch MAMA's 7000th birth since our inception in 2003. Outside of the hospital, Julia's band has played several shows in Cambridge, most recently at The Cantab Lounge and TT the Bear's.
In other midwifery accomplishments, Megan celebrated her 25th anniversary of being a midwife. Congratulations, Megan!
We are also proud to announce that MAMA's newest office location, Fresh Pond Women's Health, is open as of September 1. Tamara now sees women every Monday and Wednesday, and the practice is growing quickly.
Welcome back to Margi, who has returned from maternity leave. She sees women at the Arlington office.
Janna has sold her condo in Newburyport and is now an official Cambridge resident. Goodbye to those long commutes!
MAMA has two midwifery students working with us this season, Julie Frenette from the University of Utah, and Mara Evans from Yale University. Sadly, Julie will be returning to Utah in late December, but Mara will stay with us through the spring semester. Both women have been fantastic additions to the team and we have loved getting to work with them.
Robyn participated in her first regatta recently, rowing in a single, a double, and a 4+, all in the rain, but had a fantastic time anyways. In non-rowing news, she also recently gave a talk for the hospital's Girl's Night Out series, titled "Fitness in Your 50's and Beyond." About 75 women attended and participated in a lively discussion about how to become more fit without joining a gym.
